Foundations of Our Faith - Upcoming Retreats and Make-up Sessions
The final two Foundations of Our Faith Retreats will be in March. Luke and the Acts of the Apostles will be presented on March 2nd, and The Founding of the Church will be presented on March 23rd. Parishioner attendance and support of this retreat series is strong. If you are interested in similar experiences in the future, be sure to complete and turn in an Adult Formation survey expressing your thoughts. If you miss any of the retreats in this Foundations of Our Faith Series, you can make the session(s) up at no cost through spring of 2015. LENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Ash Wednesday is March 5. It is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass & distribution of ashes at 10am & 7pm.
  • Confession - Every parish in the archdiocese will offer confessions each Friday of Lent from 6-7pm. Confessions will end at 7pm but you can come back Saturday at 4:30pm or the following week.
  • Stations of the Cross - We are looking for someone that would be excited to lead the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent. If you are interested in leading this ministry, please contact Maria Pottinger at vashonsjv@centurytel.net 
  • Soup Suppers will be on Sundays after the 10:30 a.m. Mass instead of Fridays.
Transparency, Warmth & an Invitation to Help

You may have noticed that it's a bit warmer in the Social Hall and in the rooms downstairs. We now have double pane windows! The Facilities Committee suggested this improvement to Father Marc who approved the use of funds from our Maintenance & Improvement savings account after consulting with the Finance Council. The Maintenance & Improvement account is funded by generous parishioners who donate directly to the account as well as monies that are deposited into it monthly from Sacrificial Giving. The total cost of the project for all parts & labor was $26,094.97. If you would like to assist with the Facilities Committee or would like to make regular donations to our Maintenance & Improvement account, please contact the office.

Pastoral Council Meeting:
The next Pastoral Council meeting will be on March 13, 2014, at 7pm at the church. If you would like to present an agenda item to the Council, please contact Robert Kajca at 253-579-4682 by February 28th to be included on the agenda.

CATHOLIC ADVOCACY DAY IN OLYMPIA, FEB. 21

Join members of our parish St. Vincent de Paul Society at Catholic Advocacy Day in Olympia on Friday, Feb.21 to talk with state lawmakers about proposed legislation that would help the poor and vulnerable. Areas include housing, economic justice, health care, child welfare, life issues, environment, and criminal justice. The day begins at 9 am at St. Michael Church with a legislative briefing and Mass celebrated by Archbishop J. Peter Sartain. Mid-day is devoted to pre-arranged meetings with lawmakers. The day concludes at 3 pm.
