ST JOHN VIANNEY PRAYER RETREAT- CONTINUING THE CONVERSATION Sunday, February 23rd, following the 10:30am Mass
Sister Joyce Cox, BVM, will be with us on February 23rd to meet with all interested parishioners during the coffee hour to talk about Prayer. Bring your questions and embrace this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the call to a Life of Prayer. Learn about Spiritual Direction, an honored practice whose roots lie deep in Catholic tradition.

ST JOHN VIANNEY - SPIRITUAL DIRECTION Friday, February 28th, Sister Joyce Cox BVM, will offer Spiritual Direction at the parish from 10:30am - 2:30pm. You will have an opportunity to sign-up for Spiritual Direction at Sister Joyce's presentation on prayer this Sunday following the 10:30am Mass. If you are unable to attend the presentation and wish to meet with Sister Joyce on the 28th, please call Connie Walker (463-9871).

Reverend Kevin Duggan, Pastor of Mary Queen of Peace Parish, will be with us to present this Foundations of Our Faith Retreat next Sunday, March 2nd, from 1-5pm. Fr. Duggan will explore the Gospel of Luke, its themes, theological emphases, literary forms, and social and historical context; examine how the Acts of the Apostles is a continuation of Luke's Gospel; and identify the issues and conflicts in the Early Church. The presentation is free and child care is provided. This will be one not to miss.

Fr. Marc will be away on his annual retreat
From March 10-14th, but present for confessions on the 14th from 6-7 p.m.

  • Ash Wednesday is March 5. It is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass & distribution of ashes at 10am & 7pm. 
  • Confession - Every parish in the archdiocese will offer confessions each Friday of Lent from 6-7pm. Confessions will end at 7pm but you can come back Saturday at 4:30pm or the following week.
  • Stations of the Cross - We are looking for someone that would be excited to lead the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent. If you are interested in leading this ministry, please contact Maria Pottinger at 
  • Soup Suppers will be on Sundays after the 10:30 a.m. Mass instead of Fridays.
Pastoral Council Meeting:
The next Pastoral Council meeting will be on March 13, 2014, at 7pm at the church. If you would like to present an agenda item to the Council, please contact Robert Kajca at 253-579-4682 by February 28th to be included on the agenda.

A MESSAGE FROM the Archdiocese:
  • On March 25th, Confirming Young Disciples will be a great workshop for all those preparing adolescents for this sacrament. I hope to see you there!
  • On April 4th, I am very excited about having our first workshop on inclusion for children with special needs into our religious education programs. This event is a great opportunity to find ways to welcome all families into our parish catechetical ministries. Please do join us for this program and the Mass on April 5th with Archbishop Sartain for families with special needs!

  • Did you know that Pope Francis is continuing to catechize on the sacraments and is beginning to prepare on new encyclical on ecology?

A LIGHT IS ON FOR YOU Parishes in the Archdiocese of Seattle will offer the sacrament of reconciliation Friday evenings beginning March 7 through Friday, April 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. The goal of “The Light Is On For You” campaign is to invite Catholics who have been away from the sacrament to return, and to encourage regular, monthly celebration of reconciliation. A webpage also has been created,, with resources for parishes, a confession toolkit for individuals, helpful videos and an online “parish confession finder.”
