Ministry Update -FirewoodDeliveries to households needing help keeping warm during the cold weather are well underway.

The wood crew has collected and prepared for burning over 20 cords for the 2014/15 season with a dozen deliveries so far this fall. We also have a great start for next year’s supply thanks to continuing donations of downed trees from island property owners. As covered space from this year’s deliveries becomes available we will split and stack the collected wood for seasoning. The SJV firewood effort began years ago as a fund raising project for the church. It has evolved since then, first as a St. Vincent de Paul ministry and then as demand grew into an SJV/SVDP partnership. Delivery volume is currently 60 to 80 pickup loads a year. Contact Jim Walker if you would like to participate.
