Our English as a Second Language class is off to a good start, with nine adult students participating.  We urgently need volunteers to help with babysitting and homework help for children of the class participants.  Our next class will be held on Tuesday, November 3 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.  All other classes will be held on Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, beginning November 9.  Call Lynne Ameling, at 567-4662, if you can help with babysitting and homework help during classes.

Los Lunes de last 7:00 a las 8:30 de la tarde
Solamente para la semana que viene, la clase de Ingles Como Idioma Segunda se reunirá el Martes, 3 de Noviembre, de las 7:00 hasta las 8:30 de la noche, para acomodar las actividades del Día de Los Muertos ya planeados para el Lunes. Las clases regresaran al día usual, el Lunes, de 7:00 hasta 8:30 de la noche, empezando el 9 de Noviembre.

We need YOUR HELP with Holly Daze Bazaar, which the Women's Group  and SJV present as an All-Island community event, and also a fund-raiser for SJV, bringing in about $3,100 in 2014 with 56 vendors from Vashon, Seattle and Tacoma!

SIGN-UP SHEETS are in the Church vestibule for pre-event tasks and day-of-event help.  Your time is precious, but we'll appreciate any time or talent you are able to give!!  Thank you so much for your generosity.

VENDOR SPACE AVAILABLE:  If you are a crafter or artisan, a very few vendor spaces are still available. It's a great way to show off your talents and pick up a little Christmas cash. REGISTRATION FEE for vendors is $45 for one table and chair(s).

Last year the Holly Daze bake sale raised over $1700! We challenge all you bakers, men and women, to contribute to this year’s November 21 sale and help surpass 2014’s amazing total.  Sign up in the vestibule to donate and pick up a full information sheet of suggested goodies, packaging tips, and drop-off times. 
St. Vincent de Paul
There will be a collection for St. Vincent de Paul after the masses November 7 - 8. Thank you for your faithfulness to helping those in need.
Book Group to discuss Muslim conversions to Christ

A Wind in the House of Islam by David Garrison will be discussed at the next meeting of the Vashon Ecumenical Book Group from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Fireside Room at Bethel Church, 14736 Bethel Lane SW.  All are welcome. Garrison, a scholar of Islam, reports on how Muslims are turning to faith in Christ.  The group's December book is #hooked by Gregory L. Jantz.

Thanksgiving food drive
During the coming weeks before Thanksgiving,St. Vincent de  Paul will be collecting canned /non-perishable items for the food bank.  Please place food in the boxes /baskets in the vestibule. 
Your generosity can help all to have a happier holiday.
All are invited to bring in pictures of deceased loved ones to be placed around the altar on November 2nd as we remember them on All Souls Day.

Assistance from the SJV Firewood Ministry
Do you need help heating your home this fall and winter due to limited income, or does someone you know need help?  Home deliveries of cut, split dry firewood are available to parishioner and acquaintances in need of heating help this coming cold weather season.  Call Jim Walker (463-9871) or the church office (567-4149).  
Saturday, November 14 Fall Grounds Clean-Up
Mark your Calendar
 Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in our annual work party beautifying our church and rectory grounds. We will be raking, picking up branches, weeding, trimming, and cleaning sidewalks/parking lot starting at 9:00 AM. A hearty lunch will be served in the social hall when we finish-should be around 12:30. Bring outdoor clean-up tools—rakes, tarps, blowers, clippers. All are invited.
