Saturday, November 21st 10am-4pm McMurray Middle School
We need YOUR HELP with Holly Daze Bazaar, which the Women's Group and SJV present as an All-Island community event, and also a fund-raiser for SJV, bringing in about $3,100 in 2014 with 56 vendors from Vashon, Seattle and Tacoma!

Do you know you can have a Mass said for a loved one?
Daily Mass at St. John Vianney can be offered for someone. You can request that a daily Mass be celebrated for the soul of someone who has passed or for an intention for someone alive (health, etc.) and then that person/intention is mentioned during that Mass. You can pick the day and you do not have to be present at the Mass. To request an intention for a Daily Mass, stop in or call the office. People usually make a donation of $10-$15; however this is not required.

Fifth Monday Community meal
Volunteers are needed to prepare food for the upcoming Monday community meal at 5:00 pm 11/30/2015 at the Methodist Church. If you can help by preparing a main dish, salad, bread or dessert, please sign up on the list in the vestibule or contact Charlotte Lovekin .
Help be the presence of Christ to the hungry people here on the island. " For I was hungry and you gave me food,..." Matthew 25:35

Homilies for Catholic Life by Richard R. Roach, edited by Peter Weigel
Father Roach’s dear friend, Peter Weigel, has published some of Father Roach’s best homilies into a lovely book. A brief summary precedes each homily. It starts with a homily written for the First Sunday of Advent and proceeds through homilies for Feast Days and other Special Days. The last chapters are some thematic homilies that Father Roach wrote. The book is available in the vestibule for $25. You can put cash or check made out to St. John Vianney in the Lighthouse box by the bulletin basket. If the books run out, we will put out a sign-up sheet and place another order.

SJV poinsettias SALE
We will be selling Christmas poinsettias that will decorate SJV church for the Christmas season. Plants can be purchased in memory or in honor of a loved one. Plants will be labeled and a list of names of those being remembered will also be placed on the altar in the prayer book for all Christmas masses. Order forms are on a table in the vestibule. The deadline to order plants is Sunday, November 29th. Questions, please call Mary Ann Beardsley 567-4273.

As we have many families looking forward to participating in Lessons & Carols, we will definitely be moving forward with this event on Sunday, December 20th. The time has been adjusted to begin at 3:30pm and will be followed by hot chocolate and light refreshments. Our first rehearsal will be this Sunday, November 8th, 11:30 am-12:15 pm. There will be additional rehearsals on 11/22 and 12/13 at the same time. If you would like for your kids to participate and have not yet replied, you are able to just come to the first rehearsal and join the group. A big thank you to Mary and Jenna for arranging a fun and meaningful Advent celebration for the parish youth. Also, thank you to Michelle Casad for playing the piano for the event

Our annual service project of beautifying of the grounds of our beloved St. John Vianney Church will take place on Saturday, November 14th. This gives the kids an opportunity to provide hands on for the needs of the Church. The party will start 9:00, and lunch will be served when we finish. If families could bring some tools such as rakes, blowers, clippers and gloves, it would be very helpful. The grounds volunteer group counts on the help of the many hands of our families on this day and it has always been a great way to get to know parish members through service that you may not ordinarily get to meet in your regular routine. Anyone that would like to help Kay Westfall with lunch would be appreciated. The more, the merrier!

Giving Tuesday is December 1, 2015
Please Support the ACA in your Giving Tuesday Plans!
As a spin-off of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is a special day created a couple years ago as a National Day of Giving to inspire and encourage charitable giving. And what better reason to give than to support over 60 ministries and services throughout Western Washington? Your gift of any amount to the Annual Catholic Appeal is welcome and will make a huge difference! We hope you will participate!
