Mass times:
Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God,
Tuesday, JAN 1st
Please note that the Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, a holy day of obligation, is New Year’s Day and will be celebrated at 10am.

Below is an excerpt from USCCB regarding JAN 1

We close out the Christmas octave—the eight days following the birth of Christ—with a day honoring Mary as the Mother of God. Take time to read about the Mother of God today.

"With his Mother's flesh God clothed himself, / Since from Virginity he was made man." — Prudentius, Hymn of the Divinity of Christ, 435-436

January 1 is also the World Day of Peace. There are a number of prayers for peace to choose from—pray one today. St Francis of Assisi’s prayer for peace is included below.

Visit the US Catholic bishops' Action Center today to find out ways you can advocate for peace around the world.

By Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow charity;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, the truth;
Where there is doubt, the faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light; and
Where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying to ourselves that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Rachel’s Corner
He shall stand firm and shepherd his flock by the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD, his God; and they shall remain, for now his greatness shall reach to the ends of the earth; he shall be peace.”

Allow Christ, who is peace, to see the darkest part of your past…to your decision to have an abortion.  Allow him to transform your wounds, for he came to “proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners”! (Isaiah 61:1)
