Announcements 4:21

HAPPY EASTER!!
You are warmly welcomed here at St. John Vianney!
May the blessing of the Risen Lord be yours in abundance!
Of all the times we gather as Christian believers, none is more important than Easter--the greatest of all our feasts. Easter celebrates the Mystery that is the very foundation of our Christian faith, for as St. Paul wrote, “ If Christ has not risen, our faith has been in vain” (1 Cor. 15:14). But Christ has risen, and we gather today to celebrate together that death is not the end--Easter proclaims for all to hear that Life will conquer death!

ENCOUNTER THE RISEN CHRIST
We prayed, fasted and gave alms—and now we celebrate Easter joy! Our Lenten journey with CRS Rice Bowl challenges us as we encounter our Risen Lord to bring the hope of Resurrection to a world in need. We reflect on our brothers and sisters whom we have walked with in Guatemala, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Gaza, and all over the world (including here in western Washington!). And we commit to bring Easter joy to each person we meet in our daily lives. Don’t forget to turn in your CRS Rice Bowl if you were not able to attend our Holy Thursday Mass, or you can donate online at  www.seattlearchdiocese.org/

Divine Mercy Sunday
Lamb Roast and Potluck
NEXT WEEKEND
You and yours are invited to a traditional 'cordero al asador' lamb spit roast.

Let us gather
at 1:30pm to watch the final stages of the roast.  We'll take it off the fire at 2 to rest, while we enter the sanctuary and begin a Holy Hour with Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We'll follow with our traditional Divine Mercy Chaplet with a Benediction to follow.
Then we'll carve the meat at 4pm and serve the meal shortly thereafter. We'll play field games and enjoy the graces of the day until 6:30 or so. We'll be roasting all day; come when you can, morning, noon or evening.

Meat and flatbread will be provided.  Appetizers, side-dishes, desserts and drinks will be potluck style, so bring your favorite dish. Hopefully weather will permit outdoor play of all kinds. All are welcome. Bring your friends and family and celebrate this 2nd Sunday of Easter with us.

Divine Mercy Pancake Sunday
Pancakes next weekend! We will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday with pancakes for brunch and roasted lamb for an early dinner—a delicious day at SJV. After you have enjoyed your pancakes, please ask Janice, Bruce, and Mike where help is most needed. We are so grateful for their generosity—they have flipped almost a million pancakes for us over the years. Let’s make their clean up easy. Suggested donation is $5 per person or $15 per family.
We would like to cover the costs for this wonderful SJV tradition, so please do put your pancake payment into the basket.

ADULT AND YOUTH FAITH FORMATION
  • Youth Faith Formation and Fr.’s weekly Gospel Reading Study Group will meet next week on Divine Mercy Sunday.

UPCOMING VETERAN ALTAR SERVER TRAINING SESSIONS
There have been some adjustments to the Altar Serving protocol in the past year and a half, so all experienced Altar Servers are being asked to attend a Refresher Training Session. This class will be held the first Sundays of April and May. This refresher training will allow our veteran Altar Servers to renew their commitment to assisting Fr. David in celebrating the Mass, as well as to hone their skills. All Altar Servers should plan to attend on May 5, 12:30-2:00. Thank you to all our Altar Servers for their ministry in our parish.

PRAYER GARDEN
IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE
It would be wonderful for a couple more parishioners to become members of the SJV Prayer Garden Improvement Committee. Are you someone who loves the Rosary? Does it make you happy to work in your garden?  Please sign up and share your thoughts about how we can make our Prayer Garden more spiritual and more beautiful. It really is a unique part of the church grounds and we are very fortunate to be able to pray there. The sign-up sheet is on the table in the vestibule.
